Trade union support for students

Professional representation and legal support as an apprentice podiatrist.

Trade union support is not available for student members unless you are an apprentice or an assistant practitioner.

If you are an apprentice podiatrist, your membership includes access to the only trade union in the UK that is dedicated to representing podiatrists.

This representation provides critical professional support for members at all stages of their career, including students preparing to enter the profession.

The Royal College of Podiatry’s activities as a trade union are delivered by:

  • workplace representatives who are practising podiatrists

  • employment relations officers who are trained to handle complex cases

  • a dedicated legal team specialising in employment law

Professional support

The union provides apprentice podiatrists comprehensive professional support through:

  • employment-related advice and guidance

  • negotiating employment agreements

  • addressing workplace changes, including issues related to pensions and potential redundancy

  • representing members' concerns with employers
