  • maintaining patient confidentiality

  • being honest and trustworthy

  • treating people with respect

  • working within your competence

  • maintaining professional boundaries

  • being accountable for your actions

  • collaborating with colleagues

Professional behaviour

You must:

  • communicate professionally with patients and colleagues

  • maintain appropriate boundaries

  • keep accurate records

  • raise concerns about safety

  • follow infection control procedures

  • respect diversity and cultural differences

  • maintain appropriate personal presentation

  • use social media responsibly

During placements

When working with patients, you must:

  • introduce yourself as a student

  • get consent before treatment (use consent templates in the members area for this)

  • maintain patient dignity

  • keep information confidential

  • follow local policies
