Student network and representatives
Shape our profession and represent your peers. Find your representatives and learn how to become one.
The Royal College of Podiatry student network connects podiatry students across the UK. Through the network, you can shape your profession and support other students.
Join the student network
Once you have joined the Royal College of Podiatry you will automatically start receiving emails from the Student Network. We’ll provide you with information that is relevant to you as a student member.
You’ll also be asked from time-to-time to help us in our activities and projects when a student voice is needed. For example, each year we ask for student volunteers to attend our annual podiatry conference.
Find your student representatives
Every university podiatry school must provide a Royal College of Podiatry student representative. Most universities elect their student representatives.
Student representatives are intermediaries: they cascade information between students at your university and us.
Contact your university course tutor to find contact details of your student representative.
Become a student representative
University podiatry schools nominate their own student representatives.
There are no formal requirements if you want to become a representative, but you must be a member of the Royal College of Podiatry and be willing to get involved with student issues both locally and nationally.
Typically, student representatives meet online with the membership team at the Royal College of Podiatry three times a year, but other ad hoc meetings may happen.
There are no formal training requirements needed to become a student representative.
Many student representatives go on to take on key roles in the profession, becoming branch officials, serving on committees, groups and on the Council of the Royal College of Podiatry.
Others become university tutors and lecturers.
